This week you're going to be discussing the goals, values and principles of psychiatric rehabilitation. Have you worked in an organisation where they have adopted the goals, values, and principles of psychiatric rehab, and if so, can you give an example of how they were actioned?
This week we are discussing Patient Issues and Ethics and Public Health and Ethics. are they in conflict? There is an argument that it depends on the patient’s culture. What do you think? Does the patient’s ethnicity and culture matter? If so, how would you protect their culture, values and at the same time hold up principles of public health?
Consider the four major models identified in the book chapter read this week - ACT, strengths model case management, case manager as broker, rehabilitation case management. In what ways do they support recovery and the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation? Is one model preferable to another, if so, why? Have you worked in or had a placement in mental health?
