When Euthyphro suggests that the gods love the pious because it is pious, Socrates responds with the complaint, “you have not yet told me what pious is.” Why does Socrates say this? Is he correct?
When Euthypro suggests that gods love what’s pious, Socrates puts that into question by asking that whether something is pious because they are pious or whatever is commanded by gods is pious. If the first statement is true, then gods do not have their omnipotence and if the second statement is true then there are too many gods and they do not agree with each other in what’s pious. So, Socrates is not happy with Euthypro’s reply and I thing Socrates is right in telling that gods disagree in what’s pious.
