Exercise scalar and vector quantities:
A drone that is used to perform agricultural work in a company
in the sector, presents the information of its position in polar
coordinates, that is, in the form (m, α) where m represents the
distance in meters measured from the starting point and α
represents the angle (expressed in degrees); if the information of
the positions are:
● Position 0 (P0); 0 m, 0 ° (Initial position).
● Position 1 (P1); 46.0 m, 11.0 °.
● Position 2 (P2); 69.0 m, 36.0 °.
● Position 3 (P3); 54.0 m, 33.0 °.
● Position 4 (P4); 55.0 m, 103 ° (Final position).
Perform the following activities, taking into account that the
drone started from the initial position (P0)
A. Find the rectangular coordinates “x” and “y” for each position
vector expressed in unit vector notation.
B. Determine each of the displacements, that is, determine Δr1 =
P1-P0; Δr2 = P2-P1; Δr3 = P3-P2 and Δr4 = P4-P3. NOTE: Express each
offset in unit vector notation.
C. Determine the rectangular components of the final displacement.
NOTE: Remember that the total displacement is equivalent to the
vector sum between all the displacements made. Express the total
displacement in unit vector notation.
D. Determine the magnitude and direction of the total displacement
vector.
E. Graph the displacements made in the same Cartesian plane
consecutively and the total displacement.
