Do you think the employment-at-will doctrine appropriately balance the rights of employees and employers? Why or why not?

I personally believe that the employment-at-will doctrine is quite an effective contractual law that is being used currently and preferred both by the organizations and the employees as well which states that an employer can terminate any employee without a good or proper cause and similarly an employee also has the right to terminate the employment contract without any good cause. The employment at will doctrine needs to follow the state and federal and cannot terminate employees based on any ground that is illegal. I believe that this doctrine provides certain independence to the employees and also provides rights to employers to downsize if they are experiencing a huge loss that may lead to a close down and therefore it creates a balance in managing the rights of both.
