Polar fronts which separate cold polar air and relatively warm mid latitudes air,these polar fronts can be thought as the average expression of transient frontal system that move along with mid latitude cyclones.Polar vortex which are areas of high pressure area created over the poles,when the jet stream weakens,it becomes more wavier allowing the transfer of cold and warm air masses from north to south causing disturbance in antarctica.
