Index of refraction of air = n1 = 1

Index of refraction of the material = n2

Angle of incidence = 1 = 45o

Angle of refraction = 2 = 35.7o

By Snell's Law,

n1Sin1 = n2Sin2

(1)Sin(45) = n2Sin(35.7)

n2 = 1.21

Index of refraction of the material = 1.21
