Your hiring manager is frustrated at an offer that was made to a qualified applicant because the applicant has asked for more money in order to accept the job. What advice could you give to the manager in regards to this applicant’s request?

I would give the following advices to the manager regarding the same:

• Recheck the qualifications and experiences of the applicant and try to analyze if the Organization can cash upon such talents more than it can from any other employee. If yes, then the manager can afford to think about offering the qualified applicant an amended raised figure.
• If the applicant is not very reasonable in demanding more money, then the manager can give him an assurance that based on the first performance appraisal review of such an applicant, the salary could be considerably hiked in the next financial year. However, the manager should emphasize that even the Organization needs to be convinced that he is worthy of the amount so quoted currently.
• If the candidate is still very unreasonable and difficult to be pursued then a final affordable figure by the Organization could be kept before him, apart from various incentives offered in non-monetary form. If that also fails to convince such a qualified applicant, then possibly, we need to explore other alternatives to search for an affordable match for the Organization.
