Provide an example of a project that might fall into one of the following project categories. Justify your answer.
1.Derivative projects
2. Platform projects
3.Breakthrough projects
4. R&D projects
1) Derivative projects - These are the projects that are additions to the existing products. It is just like the improvement work done to the existing products.
Like for example, iPhone series. A derivative project can be taken up on the latest existing iPhone series in the market. Then for that phone series, new features are added such that it brings something new with every new series that is released to the market. Or sometimes special editions like "iPhone X" will be released to the market with limited piece availability to understand what consumer really wants. Such projects are called derivative projects.
2) Platform projects - These are the projects which are considered as next generation products for the company. They are much advanced products when compared to the derivative projects.
Like for example, retina scan in a phone is an advanced feature. It is a platform project since a new advanced technology is used to scan the retina of the eye of the phone owner in order to unlock the phone. This is a new platform and completely new feature when it was introduced by the company. Since such projects are advanced, and use new technological platform, these are called platform projects.
3) Breakthrough projects - These are the projects which are considered to have biggest breakthrough and revolution in the product or services market. These projects are highly appreciated and rewarded projects and at the same time highly risky projects as well.
Like for example, driverless cars. These cars are a breakthrough in the automobile world. The technology behind the car is a biggest breakthrough project which comes under highly rewarding category. But at the same time, this is a highly risky project, because without a physical driver, the car may not be able to take right decisions at any required time.
4) R&D projects - These projects are under the new invention category which is still under research and development process. The end product that is released to the market might take time, but the buzz about the product and its project always keeps consumers waiting with the curiosity .
Like for example, 3d televisions. These require lot of time, effort, money and other resources to make it successful.

Two main categories of process models have been discussed in this course: • Conventional (Traditional) Process Models • Agile Process Models For each one of these Categories: 1. Briefly describe it. 2. Provide an example of Process Models that fall under this category. 3. Explain when we should/should not use it. The following table can help you to organize your answer. For each of the following projects determine the NPV of each one (provide your answer), and rank them. Then, determine which of the following projects should a firm undertake if it can invest $25000. Please use a WACC of 11%. Turn your answer in to the drop folder provided. You will receive 1 point for the correct NPV, Ranking and Recommendation. When might the IRR rule provide different guidance regarding
project selection than the NPV rule?
a) When a project has net expenditures (costs) that occur after
positive cash inflows.
b) When a project has two or more years of initial net
expenditures, followed only by cash inflows.
c) When a project has multiple IRRs.
d) When deciding between
mutually exclusive projects with different initial investment
amounts.

Provide an example of one of the three types of models that might apply to designing a car, a house, and an office building.
Suppose there are two potential projects for investment. Project 1 has a certain payoff of $50 in one year, while project 2 has a 50% chance of generating $100 in one year, and another 50% chance of generating $0 in one year. Suppose the company has an outstanding debt = $50. (1)Which project will shareholders prefer? Justify your answer. (2)Which project will debt holders prefer? Justify your answer. (3)Which project will the financial manager prefer? Justify your answer.
provide one example of a complete molecule with a functional group that has a carbon at the following oxidation states -3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3,+4. Please do not use R groups as symbols for substituents but instead use actual substituents
Capital Budgeting Example - NPV, IRR.You are analyzing the following two mutually exclusive projects, where Project A is a 4-year project and Project B is a 3-year project: Project A Project B -$1,000 -$ 800 1 350 350 2 400 400 3 400 400 4 400 ----- Assuming a discount rate of 15%, calculate the net present values and internal rates of return for projects A and B.
