Answer #1

The first modern airliner was the Boeing model 247. It was a twin-engine airline and was an all-metal (anodized aluminum). It had retractable gear. It was called the first modern airline because it had many modern features such as fully cantilevered wing, auto-pilot, and de-icing boots that could protect it from ice. Also, it was a streamlined airliner that could allow up to 10 passengers to sit in an air-conditioned environment. It was a revolutionary concept back then that is why it was called a first modern airline.
