1 How do you see project management blending with the instructional design process? How does it apply to the ID context?
I see how they both blend together because as an ID you are analyzing the learning needs and then development a system to address those needs. The process itself is a project! For example, the case study project that I was working on for the project an ID was primarily managing the project because it required a sequence of duties and responsibility by team members to complete a task for an organization. However, the difference is ID’s usually are not responsible for the budgeting and scheduling of an project thus making the PM duties and responsibilities more daunting. Whereas, PM and ID concepts are similar but the PM is responsible for seeing all aspect of a project are completely satisfactory.
2 Whether you are serving as the Project Manager on an ID project, or working with a PM who will manage the project, what skills and competencies would you like to further develop?
After going through this process, developing my planning and prioritizing skills would benefit my team the best. I am a planner however some of the software used to help with the planning and prioritizing would make completing task a lot easier. I think as a PM you are made to think on a larger scale. For example, you have to think about what everyone is doing and how what they are doing gong to help the outcome of the project. Moreover, making sure that everyone is on the same page with the progression of the project. Lastly, making sure you have the right people in place to make the project is a success. Going through this process helps me to understand the importance of planning with any project.
