on a vertical axis vs Frequency ω on the horizontal axis.

In this question, we are asked to study the graph of reactance(impedance) vs frequency.

Now starting with the reactance. Reactance or impedance can be due to two factors either inductor or capacitance. The impedance caused due to inductor is called inductive reactance and due to capacitor is called capacitive reactance.

Inductive reactance aganst frequency:

inductive reactance XL= 2 pi f L

The above formula shows that frequncy will increase as soon as inductance increases. This shows that frequency will be directly proportional to the inductive reactance(impedance). So the graph of reactance vs frequency will be a straight linear curve. The graph is shown below:

Capacitive reactance against frequency:

Firstly coming to the formula of capacitive reactance:

Xc= 1/2 pi fC

The above formula clearly shows that as frequency increases capacitive reactance Xc will descrease accordingly.

This means both frequency and capacitive reactance are inversely proportional to each other. So the graph will be a hyperbolic curve. The graph is shown below:
