Why is the OH group of salicylic acid actively involved compared to COOH group during formation of aspirin?

The phenolic OH group is more nucleophilic compare to acidic OH group (less nucleophilic) that is why acetylation takes at phenolic oxygen.In -COOH group the charge is distributed over two oxygens whereas in phenol the charge resides on oxygen
