Your authors state that performance evaluation methods can be broadly classified as measuring trait, behavioral, or results. Which method do you think is best and why?
Performance evaluation is an integral part of any business activity. Determining performance is an essential aspect for any business as it gives a clear picture of organisations ability to perform in future and also its competitiveness. Any organisation may use one or a combination of different performance evaluation method to analyse the performances of the employees.
Performance evaluation techniques are classified into three categories:
1. Trait method: Under this method of performance evaluation, a manager analysis the specific traits of an employee concerning the job. It might include the way of dealing with the customer etc.
2. Behavioural method: It involves analysing an individual's action taken in a particular job.
3. Results method: this method is focused on the accomplishments of an employee. Whether an employee accomplishes the given targets in a job or not. Based on his accomplishments, the performance of an employee is measured.
All three methods of evaluating the performance of an employee have their pros and cons. Still, the result method is one of the best ways of analysing the performance of an employee as it gives a very clear picture of the working ability of an employee. Based on accomplishments of employee performance can be analysed efficiently and fairly.

Appraisal Methods: Rating Behaviors In an effort to overcome some of the subjectivity in the attribute-based performance rating system, many organizations evaluate employees instead on specific behaviors. Other companies use a results approach, which measures the objective outcomes of a job or work group. The goal of this activity is to determine which...
