Using the guiding questions below, consider the readings and videos in this module and describe/depict the type of business professionals Edwards should be preparing you to become from an ethical perspective. You may write a two-page reflection, put together a short slide deck, or develop a conceptual diagram or mind map – whatever method helps you communicate your ideas in a meaningful way.

  1. Being: What core values and character traits do you believe business professionals require to be moral persons? Explain your choices.
  2. Doing: What competencies or skills do you believe are essential for leaders to lead ethically and effectively? Explain your choices.
  3. Developing: What role do you think business school plays (or should play) in fostering the development of these values, character traits, and competencies?

Ethics are the bundle of moral principles that drives and defines a person's behavior .It's the moral compass with which you work in every day life.Clearly these core values help you to become a certain type of business professional where you don't jump the boundary of your moral compass to attain success.

Let's discuss some of the core values and character traits that a business professional should have in order to become the being that works under his moral compass

1) To become Moral person ,A person should work under the umbrella of Moral reasoning which essentially is a process where a person makes a decision about a certain situation being right or wrong based on his reasons and rationale.To pick right decision he should assess all the routes of the solution ,especially the ones which don't help him with wrong means.And to do that he should be equipped well with these traits -

A) Moral Judgement - Which helps the person to "judge" what's right/wrong in a situation

B) Moral Sensitivity - Which helps the person to be "sensitive" about the decisions he makes,How it could affect others

C) Moral Accountability - Which helps him in realizing that he is accountable to think morally in all his decisions.

D) Moral Character - Which helps you to strive for the ways that may seem hard but "morally" correct.

2) Culture - These reflect the ethical values on moral grounds which determines how people behave.

Competencies or skills which are essential for leaders to lead ethically and effectively are -

1) Honesty - It is one of the most important if not the most important quality that a leader should have to lead ethically

2) Justice for the truth - A leader must be just and fair to all .He should only side with the truth.

3) Strictness towards ethical violations

4) Perseverance - No matter how much time taking it gets but leader should be patient to display that sticking with right might look hard but it's worth waiting

5) Respect - A leader should be very respectful towards his employees as it inculcates in juniors

6) Leading by example
