Do you think improvements in database technology helped the surge of data mining? Explain your answer in details.
First of all ,we can discuss about what is Data and how mining of data is to be done in a large quantity of data which is available in the Databases.Data is the meaningful information and database is the collection of interrelated data. Data mining is the process of extracting needful data from a database by analyzing patterns. There are several techniques such as machine learning, decision trees , neural networks and statistical methods are used for the purpose. Data can be stored in files, Relational or Object Oriented databases, or data warehouses. The improvements in database technology like data warehousing helped the surge of data mining.
The motivation for building a data warehouse is that corporate data is often scattered across different databases and in different formats. In order to obtain a complete piece of information, it is necessary to access these heterogeneous databases to concatenate the needful data.Without data warehousing this process is tedious.
Data mining uses sophisticated mathematical algorithms to analyse the data sets to predict outcomes. Corporates use this information to increase revenues, cut costs, improve customer relationships, reduce risks and more.So the surge of data mining increases according to the advancement in the technology
