You would like to put the kettle on and come back when the water has boiled. You know your kettlesupplies energy at a rate of 1025 W (1025 J/s). Assume water boils at 100°C.

a. How long will it take, in seconds, to heat 0.8 kg of water from 15°C to the boiling point?

b. When the water begins to boil, how much additional time would it be before there was a fire risk (assume there is a fire risk when all of the water is boiled)? Hint: first calculate how much energy is required for the changes to take place. Also, you can ignore the signs of your calculations because time is always > 0.
