What is your opinion of the consumer movement? Is it “alive and well” or is it fading away? Why has consumerism been such an enduring movement for so long?

Give an example of a major abuse of advertising via social media from your own observations and experiences. How do you feel about this as a consumer?

According to me, consumer movement is alive and well because in Consumer movement where consumer protection organizations protects customers from organization which violets consumer rights and exploit them for their profit. With increase use of internet and social media, consumers are becoming more aware and knowledgeable about company's unfair practices and making community groups to tackle such issues. Consumers now a days are dependent and protective as compared to past old days where organizations take advantages of consumers because there were no medium for consumers to know the truth about companies.also there have been from the support of government by making rules and regulations which helps us to make strict steps towards companies who exploit our consumer rights.

Consumerism have been such an enduring movement for so long because there was no strict rules and mediums before which are present now. in old days, consumers were helpless and no place to turn to for help but now with technology innovation and government support, consumers are becoming more aware and strong and companies are becoming more attentive and trying to reduce their exploitation in order to sustain in business.

We as consumers tend to believe that advertised product or services on social media or other mediums would give the exact benefit to us specified in the advertisement. personally, i saw an ad on social media about a smart watch which says that it would run for 35 days in single charge and is water and dust proof but when i purchase that product cause of that advertisement. I personally found that the battery backup was only 15 days half the days less specified in the Advertisement and also my watch's display got dim cause of water as it was supposed to be water proof.As consumer , this makes me feel like fool and sick that i believed that advertisement but the loss would be of the company if such activities keeps happening then consumers would take stand and spoil the image of such deceiving companies.
