The most highly purified and expensive preparations of glucose oxidase are labelled as being "catalase-free". Catalase was one of the first enzymes discovered (hence its rather unimaginative name), and it catalyzes the following reaction:

2 H2O2 --> O2 + 2 H2O

Does it matter for the purposes of the sugar lab whether or not the glucose oxidase we used had catalase in it or not? Explain your position.
