Define a codicil. Is it preferable to add a codicil to an existing Will or is it better to simply draft another Will for the client. Assume you are an attorney and a client approaches you with the issue. How would you advise the client? Consider, discuss and defend your position, in other words you must state in detail why you are doing it the way you say and why it is the best way.

Codicil is an instruction that is added to a will or it is equal to a document which states what should be done with a person's possessions after the death of owner.

It is better and far easier to add codicil to existing will than to re-write the will again.

I would suggest my client that adding codicil to existing will, will be preferable because there is no point of changing or re-write entire will again.

For example, your daughter is getting married and you want no confusion that who will be the beneficiary. A codicil will change the name by adding a document codicil, rather then changing entire will.

But then, it all depends upon the situation or changes that the client want to make afterall.
