Thermometer doesn't slip through the rubber stopper during distillation of separation of mixture . Because the rubber stopper have greater degree of chemical resistance and elasticity.the elasticity allow thermometer to seal tightly inside the stopper so it can not be slip.for inserting thermometer in stopper the Mercury bulb should positioned below bottom inside the Round bottom flask.
