Race and ethnicity and cultural characteristics is a sub-field of the study to how people act towards each other that focuses on identity. I understand from the chapter how the race has changed and it became less connected among related to relatives going way back for many years, and family-related ties, and more concerned with shallow physical features, qualities, and traits or is a social construct, while family and cultural characteristics is a term that describes shared culture and national origin, which is focused on practices, values, and beliefs of a group. I was surprised that one of a regular person golfer Tiger Wood has multiple races and ethnicity. I learned the meaning of different terms for example prejudiced mental pictures are oversimplified ideas about groups of people. where unfair, pre-decided bad opinions refer to thoughts and feelings, while unfair treatment based on skin color and age, etc refers to actions. treating people badly or unfairly because of their race refers to the belief that one race is superior or inferior to other races.

One’s identity is shaped by one’s environmental factors such as, race, religion, ethnicity, culture etc. People who come from the same background share the same physical features, beliefs, values and social construct. However, when people move away for various reasons and mingle with others, they might accept, appreciate and adopt new practices that would be foreign to them. As a result, many people have started having many identities such as, different race, religion, ethnicity and culture since their parents come from two different environment. Tiger Woods is a typical example for this trend as he has multiple race and ethnicity. Although they bring in more equality and started questioning the existing racial differences, they are discriminated, stereotyped and bullied because they do not belong to any existing racial or ethnic identity.
