Answer

The stereocilia on the hair cells are the type of : Mechanoreceptor

  • Mechanoreceptors are sensory receptors that detect light and deep touch, pressure differences and stretch.
  • In the inner ear, there are hair cells containing sterocilia. Hair cells are receptors for both hearing and balance.
  • They are mechanoreceptors that detect pressure changes.
  • When sterocilia bends due to air pressure changes, the membrane potential of the hair cells changes.
  • The hair cell then releases a neurotransmitter that transmit the signals to the afferent sensory neuron.

    11. Acetylcholine is both an excitatory and inhibitory ligand depending on the location of its receptor. What does Acetylcholine do that makes it "excitatory"? a. It causes a cell membrane to depolarize and produce Excitatory Post Synaptic Potentials b. It opens K+ ion channels when it binds to its receptors c. It causes a cell membrane to hyperpolarize 12. The bonding of Acetylcholine to its muscarinic receptors on smooth muscle causes gated K+ channels to close. This action is described...

    1. Each baby has brown hair or purple hair. Design a one-pass and in- place and linear time algorithm to sort the babies according to their hair color: brown hair babies followed by purple hair babies. In your algorithm, you must use only two pointers. (a). Please tell me explicitly what the constraints are we put on those two pointers (i.e., you interpret intuitively, and possibly with some drawings on the meanings of "one-pass", "in-place", and "linear-time".). (b). The thought...

One difference between an electrolytic cell and a galvanic (voltaic) cell is the galvanic cell reaction is spontaneous and the electrolytic cell reaction is not spontaneous. galvanic cells last longer than electrolytic cells.` electrolytic cells produce more power than galvanic cells. electrolytic cells always require inert electrodes .electrons flow from the anode to the cathode in a galvanic cell and in the opposite direction in a voltaic cell.
