Answer #1

Solution:

Tableau uses the Workbook file structure which is like Excel.

These workbooks contain sheets which can be as worksheet, dashboard, story.

Differences between the worksheets, dashboard and the story can be understood by observing their definitions.

Worksheets:

The worksheet consists a single view with legends, shelves, data pane etc...

Dashboard:

A dashboard is a collection of views from various worksheets.

Story:

A story consists of the sequence of the worksheets and dashboards that needs to work together to process and convey the information.

Differences:

  • The tableau has various options to deal with the workbooks.
  • These mainly deals with the worksheets and the data panes in them.
  • Inside a workbook, one can create new sheets, modify these worksheets and delete them as well.
  • From worksheet, one can access data dimensions fields etc...
  • From dashboard, one can access worksheet but it is not possible to access the properties of the worksheet like dimensions etc...
  • From story, we can access the dashboard and worksheets and here as well, it is not possible to access the properties like dimensions and measures directly.

Example:

WorkSheet,Dashboard,Story:

Consider the situation to build a story about earthquakes.

The story feature is a great way to show and plot the recent trends over time.

This allows us to analyse the rate and other aspects of the occurrences of these earthquakes.

A successful story must be well framed and the purpose of it must be known.

We create a story work sheet now where the data about the earthquakes is entered.

The story has title that helps us to be in clear about the current story.

The first story point is generally the entire planet that shows the entire analysis across the entire planet.

Map the appropriate dashboard to the current story and worksheet.

The Tableau has various other properties which can be modified based on the story that we chose and built.
