Why is it possible for Ethernet Addresses to be handed out at random and for Local Area Network switches to learn the topology and construct a forwarding table but this is not possible in the wide area?
We can't do the same thing in the wide area network, because:
1- In the wide area network there is an important number of nodes, so it will take a very long time to learn the topology.
2- In the wide area network the topology changes frequently, so we can't proceed like in local area network.
