forvdilution solution the following formula is used

moles of solute = M1V1= M2V2​​​​​​

where, M1= intial concentration = 40 mg/dL.

V1= initial volume = 50 cc

M2 = Final concentration = 17 mg/dL

Final volume (V2)  = M1V1/M2

= (40*50)/17

or, V2 = 117.65 cc

Hence, (117.65 -50)= 67.65 cc water have to add to dilute the solution of 17 mg/dL.
