Do you agree that “social advertising will move away from its famous hyper-targeting capabilities and toward a traditional media publisher model of contextual targeting?” Explain.
I do agree with the above statement. Times have changed. Our minds, as the audience of the internet platform, have now got trained to ignore the advertisements that are not of our concern, especial on social media such as on Facebook. I may have a varied interest in the fields ranging from movies to travel and shopping, etc. However, that shall not imply that I am continuously in look for the products pertaining to those topics. I will ignore the ads considerably because social media is ideally, not the platform wherein I shall be interested in availing products or shopping for the same. If I am genuinely interested in some purchase, I might as well refer to some official websites. It is there where the contextual advertisements shall be more looked forward to, by me. This is so because I shall be particularly visiting such websites to know more about the products. Contextual targeting is an automated process of displaying the advertisements on the websites that matches the context that we are generally searching for on such media. This makes the advertisements more relevant to be given a consideration by us instead of choosing to always ignore the same. The contextual advertisements further generate our interests towards exploring such products. Therefore, because of its relevance that still makes sense to today’s generation and audiences, I agree with the above statement.
