What was the issue at stake in “Bleeding Kansas,” and how did events in Kansas reflect the growing sectional division between North and South?

Bleeding Kansas is also known by the name of Border War. It is about about the violent incidents of civil confrontations which took place in USA. These took place between 1854 and 1861. Legality of slavery was the main reason behind this.

Various political and ideological disputes also took place on this issue. Immediate reaction came from North. Distance between North and South increased due to these incidents. Northern people (mainly workers and immigrants) opposed the system of slavery.

They considered slavery as an economical threat for themselves. So, north refused to enact the slavery law. South seemed interested in the fugitive slavery law. South started capturing the runaway slaves. Northerners were asked to return the runaway slaves.

Penalty of law of law was used a medium to force them to do so. Southerners were interested in slavery because their economy was based on agriculture so they needed more manpower to work in fields. Northerners were against the slavery because they were in favor of free states.

They considered slavery as wrong. All these events and factors caused a growing sectional division between North and South.
