Can you help me to answer this two questions?
1. How does a capacitor store energy?
2. Could a capacitor work if its dielectric were empty and why
would it be better or worse than other capacitors?
1) capacitors store energy in the form of electric field. When capacitors are subjected to a potential difference, it draws current until the potential reaches the voltage rating of the capacitor.
2) Yes a capacitor would work if the dielectric is empty if there is potential difference across it's plate.
If dielectric is not added , the electric field will be less . hence the capacitor will store less energy
