Which piece of glassware would be most appropriate for make 100
mL of a solution of a certain concentration?
100 mL volumetric flask would be most appropriate to make 100 mL of a solution of a certain concentration.
Volume of solution can be accurately measured with volumetric flask. 100 mL beak will give approximate volume which may be significantly different from actual volume. 250 mL graduated cylinder is more accurate than 100 mL beaker but is less accurate than 100 mL volumetric flask for measuring volume. 100 mL volumetric or graduated pipet is used when we measure out 100 mL of solution (that is already prepared) and transfer it to conical flask for titration.
In 100 mL volumetric flask, we first add preweighed amount of solute and some solvent and mix thoroughly. Then we add sufficient amount of solvent so that volume reaches 100 mL mark.
