Answer #1

ANSWER:

We are adding deuterated chloroform or other deuterated solvent in the NMR tube along with our sample because

  • To facilitate locking and shimming process
  • To suppress the large solvent peak that would otherwise occur in the proton NMR spectra
  • To stabilize the magnetic field strength
