Jack was assigned to your project team three weeks ago. He has stopped by to see you three times to talk about an assignment you’ve given him. You think this unusual. You assumed he had done this type of work before since the Program Manager asked that he be assigned to the team. When you gave him this assignment you didn’t expect to see him again until the project status meeting was held. After the third time he stopped by to talk with you, you asked him if there was a problem. He said there wasn’t but he just wanted to make sure he was on the right track. From what he’s saying to you, he has a pretty good idea of how to do the assignment.

Question 1 What style of leadership/ management would be most appropriate in working with Jack? Why?

Question 2 What steps might you take to best deal with this situation with Jack and what are you trying to achieve with these steps?

1) Coach Style Leadership can be an effective form of approach here . The reasons are as follows :

A) This form of leadership can help the team leader toh get to know about the qualities nd weakness of the group members and to work hand in hand with them . This working togther will be focused upon guiding , nurturing and helping the group member achieve their goals and ambitions .

B) This form of leadership also gives prime importance to the strategical planning and working well in a team . So this one will help jack to have a better indepth knowledge and track of what are the things to really focus upon.

C) Prior importance to the growth of the individuals . Here the growth of the team members are related with the skill set , these skill sets of the team memebrs are developed and are give right nurturanc too . All of the team members develop different skills and abilities overtime.

Through guidance jack can be helped to have a better indepth awareness of what he is actually up for . As he is at present having a rightful insight of his assignment then a adequate support and guidance can help him to get the job done .

The skill set of jack has to be nurtured enough so that his growth can take place and he could develop confidence over them and work well .

C) Help in developing confidence and trust over ones own ideas.

Trust is one factor which can help in developing confidence . Trust shown by others can be very useful in developing ones confidence . These factors of confidence, skillset can be a way of achieveing the growth of the individual and the organisation
