In making the solution alkaline prior to precipitation, why is not advisable to add a strong base such as NaOH?

Ans:Alkalinity means acid neutralisation in water i.e if CaCO3 levels are exceeded more than 110mg/l then we must add caustic soda to get alklinity.but caustic soda is a white deliquscent solid it absorbs moisture and CO2 from atmosphere.and it maintain the change of ph and controlls the corrosion of metal.
