im having a hard time with using monroe’s sequence for my persuasive speech on the power of positivity/optimisim.

Introduction:

  1. Prepare about
  2. What is positivity?
  3. What does recent research say about positivity and the effect it has on humans?

Attention getter:

  1. Give some example that the audience can connect with such as,
  2. Preparing for an exam and overwhelmed by study materials
  3. Preparing for a speech and panicking about everything that could go wrong

Need or problem:

  1. Analyze a situation from the above example and illustrate how being positive is a better choice in that situation.
  2. Explain how being negative affects physical, emotional, and psychological components of a person's being.

Solution:

  1. Research and get techniques that can help people stay positive. Back it up with evidence.
  2. Reiterate the benefits that people get by being positive, such as being attractive and popular to the masses

Visualize:

  1. Make people think of themselves in a situation that requires positive thinking such as,
  2. On the stage about to sing. They know they are good singers but all that they can think of is losing their voice. Not tell them to picture the positive. hey rocked the performance and people are giving them a standing ovation.
  3. This should help them see how feeling positive improves their mood.

Call to action:

  1. Inspire them by letting them know what steps you have taken and how they can start being positive right now. Give a small anecdote or example and end the speech.
