Explain the difference between data mining and data warehousing?

The most basic and general difference between data warehousing and data mining is that data warehousing is done by engineers to perform business analysis on the data , to gather data , organise it and query the information needed . It is database creation that is used for easier reporting of information in organisations when needed while data mining is performed to identify the patterns between the data extracted and study that data to find relationships and experiments . We donot aim to discover something when we perform data warehousing but the main aim of data mining is to discover hidden content that can be studied from the pattern that the data follows . Data Mining  can be for a research or for  predicting the next outcome or deciding which action to perform . Different strategies like AI , machine learning , statistics work on data mining while data warehousing is simple queries . Data warehousing should be performed before Data Mining because we need data collected from the large number of sources and compiled together to perform operations on them.Looking at the purposes that data warehousing and data mining serve we can say that while data warehousing should be performed periodically to keep the database schemas updated , data mining should be performed on a regular basis to find the patterns in data and make a study out of it . Data warehouse is for managment of the organisation while data mining is more for the business of the company so only qualified engineers are involved in data warehousing while business heads lead the process of Data Mining .
