Answer #1

Correct answer: When component changes

A bill of materials is a listing names with quantities of all the components, subassemblies, parts, and raw materials those are required for assembling of parent item. If any of changes occurs in the components and child items in terms of form or function, then it is not the same part, and must have a different part number. Thus, whenever the component changes, the bill of material of parent item must change.
