In a cylinder with a piston there is a gas that occupies a volume of 0.1 m3. The piston is held in place by means of latches located on the cylinder wall. The entire device is placed under atmospheric air pressure at 101.3 kPa. What is the change in the internal energy of the device if the latches are released and the gas expands to double its volume? Assume that the speed with which heat is exchanged between the device and the surrounding air is less than the speed with which the process happens.
