Answer #1

Explanation of all options first.

Relative compaction- It is defined as the ratio of dry density obtained in field to the maximum dry density obtained in laboratory.

Vibration as compaction method - Vibration is the effect created by a compaction instrument. Vibrofloats gives the effect of vibration which is usedvto density Sandy or non cohesive soils over large area and to a larger depth.

Vibratory rollers also gives the effect of vibration which is used to compact roads and railways embankment of Sandy soils i.e non cohesive soils.

Compaction by pressure and kneading action - Pneumatic rollers give the effect of both pressure and kneading action which is used for compacting both cohesive and non cohesive soils. For cohesive soil we use kneading action and for non cohesive soil we use pressure action and if soil contains both then we use both actions.

* Cohesive soils

We opt for option C as it gives kneading option also.

* Non cohesive soils

We chose option b as it is not mentioned the location and requirement of compaction. So vibration effect well suits to non cohesive soils.

* Both cohesive and non cohesive soils

We go for option C as it gives both pressure action for non cohesive soil and kneading action for cohesive soils.
