In which ways you’ve noticed an increase in commercialization in your own life, and whether you think this has been beneficial or detrimental.

The advent of the Internet has given a big leap to every aspect of life and commercialization is not unaffected. I don’t advocate against the Internet rather I would say our technological advancement of the past few decades has improved and comforted our lives in numerous ways and despite cursing it we must be thankful for it. Things were not the same just two decades ago as they are now. Everything has been changed entirely from how people think and what they do.

Commercialization thread of Education: When I left the tail of my childhood and caught up with the adolescent I realized that getting in schools and colleges were not that easy. Either you would have to clear their criteria of examination or lured them with little money. But now things have changed. You can find schools, coaching centers, and universities in almost every street and city. What was a long time ago ‘knowledge’ has now been commercialized on a biggest scale as possible. Now they are not paying heed on quality but quantity. I firmly believe that now our education system is just a number game and doesn't entice student’s minds. It is more like producing a desired pre-decided product in a factory not inventing or inspecting new and creative minds.    

Commercialization thread of Communication: Just a decade ago there were barely any mobile phones. The communication aspect of technology has grown faster than any other aspect of technology. Not even those dumb boxes (computers), which are now about to take on human intelligence, has grown faster than these mobile phones in these last ten years or so. Now you would have to struggle and suffer to find a single person without a cell phone. The commercialization of phones has done in a way that even a grown up toddler is not unaffected by it. There is no doubt our communication has been improved in tremendous ways but we got so poor in expressing ourselves. We barely spend time with our loved ones and the condition of children is worst. They are getting so addicted to these small machines that they are no longer aware of their out world. To make the condition worse they are getting more impatient, anxious, and aggressive or more precisely - wild.

Beneficial or Detrimental?

I would say any technological advancement is not detrimental or destructive until we make it so. It is beneficial as long as we use it mindfully without getting addicted to it. We can make it both beneficial or detrimental.
