Question

A Brayton cycle with regeneration using air as the working fluid has a pressure ratio of...

A Brayton cycle with regeneration using air as the working fluid has a pressure ratio of 7.9. The minimum temperatre in the cycle is 300 K and the effectiveness is 64 % for the regenerator. Maximum temperature of the cycle is 1110 K.

Assuming an isentropic efficiency of 83 % for the turbine and 86 % for the compressor (assuming variable specific heats),

Determine;

(1) Air temperature at the end of the turbine exit

(2) Net work output

(3) Thermal efficiency
