According to Noam Chomsky, the inequality between the super wealthy and the poor is so extreme today that it is corrosive to our democracy. Why do the majority of people (who have no wealth, a lack of power, and political influence) accept this inequality?

In today’s time rich is getting richer and poor is getting more poorer. However, people who are poor ( in wealth, power or political) do not care about it because they are busy with their life, as they have to earn their daily bread and butter to sustain in this world. Only 1 or 2 per cent in the world are rich while other are middle class , poor and extreme poor. These class of people don’t care about inequality because they are fully involved in their life and thinking about next day.

Money makes money, so if they don’t have money how they will make money. For example, person A is earning 100 dollars in a month, and his monthly expense in 100 dollars how will he save money when is monthly earning and salary is the same and if any emergency occurs he has to take loan and this cause more problem to him as his earning and expense are same. People are busy with their lives as they have more tension rather than complaining about inequality between rich and poor.

Why is not questioned or challenged enough?

The reason is simple because people are so involved in their personal lives that they don’t have time to think about inequality between poor and rich.

Explain how the wealthy and powerful create legitimacy through ideology.

Wealthy and powerful couple give work to these poor people so they can work for them and try to keep them under them only by giving them good salary and other privileges so they can work for them only never try to become a rich person. Just like medieval time how monarchs did, give jobs to people so they work for you and you can dominate them. This is the ideology of the people.

define ideology in your response and explain what is the “American Ideology” using one of the following value patterns individualism, equality of opportunity, meritocracy, the work ethic, or liberal capitalism.

Ideology is the thinking of a person which he has been thought from his childhood. It is like doctrine. American ideology is old fashioned employee as much as you can and they will make profit for the rich. However, this is changing in current time, as there are many millionaire and billionaire coming out each year and their number is increasing.
