Describe the issues related to training and developing expatriates for international assignments.
Textbook: Dowling, P. J., Festing, M., & Engle, A. D., Sr. (2017). International human resource management (7th ed.). Hampshire, United Kingdom, : Cengage Learning.
Expatriates are those employees who are being dispatched from the home country to another country for work and for business purposes. With the careful planning of training and development, companies can increase the quality of life of expats as well as can improve their productivity. An expat can get the training in hard skills and soft skills. Before moving to another country, expats need to learn their native language and be somewhat fluent so they can communicate with them comfortably. Along with that, they need to learn about the culture of the people of that country both socially and professionally, which sometimes becomes very difficult. The family of expatriates too need to get some training such as currency education so to make the assignment very smooth. But it is not always possible to get in touch with the family members which becomes an issue for the HR managers.
Hope this helps :)
