'Shape fill' is specifically for having color appear behind the text. It provides a palette of colors to choose from.

2. Another way to emphasize a text is by using HIGHLIGHTING TOOLS.

Text highlight is available at the home tab, in the text palette just below the text size modifier. It also provides a palette of colors to choose from, but they are slightly electric. Because, they aim to give an appearance of real highlighting.
