Answer- The H-R diagram is also known as Hertzsprung-Russel diagram. This daigram helps in getting the idea regarding the stellar evolution. This diagram is plotted between the temperature of the star with respect to there luminosity. Or colour of the star against their absolute magnitude. Depending upon there mass which is considered intial they undergo various stages which is dictated by their internal structure. Each of this stages are accompanied by changes in temperature and with respect to the cahnge in temperature the luminosity also changes and thus is moves in the H-R diagram and thus from this scientists can predict its internal structure. These changes takes place since with gradual time the temperature decreases and from main sequence star it gradually move to rad gaint phase and finally to white dwarf phase and finally to the black dwarf stage which is just a black chunk of carbon left.
