You have been promoted to the position of “Social Networks Manager” in a rather large organization that has over 2,000 employees. The CMO wants to launch an initiative to totally revitalize communication within the organization, with the objective of making virtually every employee aware of the new mission statement of the organization. You are required to develop a plan for a private social media network that will engage all employees so that there is no question that they are aware of the new mission and tagline of this company. The plan will also show how the organization will continue to communicate with employees on an ongoing basis.
You will develop a unique, private corporate network that incorporates the use of at least 5 social media applications/platforms, including some, but not limited to the following: Facebook, Twitter, blogging, email, the corporate intranet, a new app for mobile devices, Microsoft Outlook, Skype, Instagram, presentation sharing,YouTube, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Tumblr, Flickr, Infographics, etc.
You should also show how this will be integrated into more traditional forms of promotion, such as flyers and use of company bulletin boards, etc. You can be creative since the first part of the plan will be an initiative to invite all the employees to a kickoff event of some kind: A party, online meeting, talent show, whatever. Included in the plan all the success will be measured. Also, include how you will connect departments to departments as well as employees to employees. Your budget is $10,000 to set up the network and the event.
The objective is to develop a social media strategy which would engage all employees of an organisation . I would require vibrant participation from all employees to make this successful .
First task is to select five different kinds of social media platforms that I would use to engage the employees.
To do this i would conduct an internal survey within the organisation to find out the 5 most popular social media platforms among employees .
On the basis I would select the same . For example I might choose a platform like Facebook at Work . Internal discussion boards , whats-app groups might also be selected .
The major challenge would be to make employees engage and use these platforms on a regular basis to engage on anything and everything that is going on in the company .
Outlook is usually the official platform which can be used as a source of circulating information . However the major disadvantage of Outlook is that it is not an interactive platform to the extent probably Facebook and Twitter is . Lot of discussion mails may remain unread which defeats the purpose.
The major challenge on how to use this depends on the way enthusiasm is created among the employees .There needs to be rewards and recognition program to constantly motivate employees to engage .
The initial disruption needs to be big . So I would suggest department -wise launches via events held in office premises which would include a party .
The budget of $ 10000 needs to be majorly spent on rewards and recognition to enthuse employees.
