A mass m hangs from a spring with undeformed length l attached to a ceiling of height.

(a) Show that the equilibrium position measured from the ceiling is given by l + mg/k, where k is the spring constant.

(b) Prove that the mass still undergoes simple harmonic motion with the same angular frequency than the horizontal mass-spring system.
