• Discuss the principal types of teams used in the workplace today and how these teams can advance the interests of an organization.
• Second, assess the role of human resource professionals in building a team from a group of individuals. In particular, discuss two strategies that a human resource professional can utilize that will encourage individuals within the organization to work more collaboratively as a team.

Principal types of teams are:

• Functional that aims at performing its own function and is not really affected with what other teams within the organisation are doing. If this type of team keeps on performing up to its potential it can definitely help in achieving the organisation wide objective.
• Cross-functional which actually takes the input from other teams and at times the output of one team acts as an input for the other. Such teams need to maintain harmony and good relations with other teams to ensure that
• Self-Directed teams are self-motivated and are willing to put efforts to achieve organisational goals.

2 strategies that can be adopted are:

• Team activities which are not directly related to work but need the support of every individual and need them to work in tandem to achieve success in the playful task.
• Rewards and recognition and making the employee feel respected can also help in achieving the same.
