A gas is enclosed in a container fitted with a piston of cross-sectional area 0.150 m2. The pressure of the gas is maintained at 5,900 Pa as the piston moves inward 21.0 cm.

Answer #1

W=Force * Displacement

=pressure *area*displacement

=-5900*.150*.21

=-185.85j (AS COMPRESSION)-(

b)from firs law of Thermodynamics

heat transfer-work done=change in internal Energy

Q=-(185.85+7.10)

=-192.95J
