The 1960 presidential election was the 44th presidential election of United States. John F.Kennedy was a Democratic nominee while Richard Nixon was a Republican nominee. Both the candidates took to televised campaigns. This was the first time television became the origin of information for the voters. Kennedy's candidacy spells freshness due to the song which runs in the campaign advertisement. The repetition of Kennedy's name cannot escape one's tongue. The jingle ad also has plenty images of the candidate and name placards which are hard to miss.

Kennedy challenged Nixon to have televised debates which Nixon confidently accepted. Kennedy looked more at ease facing the cameras and seemed like he directly spoke to his audience while Nixon took the traditional style of responding, he mostly seemed answering to Kennedy rather than the audience. Kennedy seemed to be a charming and good orator while Nixon seemed poised.

The question of maturity and experience disappeared due to the televised campaign which looks way ahead of time. I would choose Kennedy who ultimately won the election by a popular votes as he seemed a youth icon and connected easily with the people.

The 1960 campaign ad was very long but it surely beats the campaign ads of today. The ad helped Kennedy to project as a youth icon, someone who is experienced despite his age. Though televised campaigns are more structured today and it's reach is immense, the 1960 campaign commercials made a connect with the audience.
