A parallel-plate capacitor is made from two aluminum-foil
sheets, each 5.8 cm wide and 5.7 m long. Between the sheets is a
Teflon strip of the same width and length that is
4.0×10−2 mm thick. What is the capacitance of this
capacitor? (The dielectric constant of Teflon is 2.1.)
I used formula C = (k)(Eo)(A) / (d) with C = (2.1)(8.85
x 10-12)(0.058)(12) / (4.0 x 10-5) and got C
= 3.23 x 10-7 F. The answer needs to be in micro F so I
converted that to micro F and got 0.323 micro F but the answer is
wrong... can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Show all
work/explain for points.
