Heat transfer activity:
There is an empty erlenmyer flask (250 mL).
This flask is labelled water.
50.00 mL of distilled water is added to the flask
labelled water.
The temperature of the flask labelled water is insulated
from surroundings and the temperature is changed to 40 degrees
C.
100 mL of compound Y is insulated from surrounding and
the temperature is changed to 20 degrees C.
100 mL of compound Y is poured into the flask labelled
water.
Final temp of flask labelled water is
recorded.
This is done twice more with the water temperature
changing from 40 degrees C (trial #1) to 50 degrees C (trial #2) to
then 60 degrees C (trial #3).
Trail one temp.: 23.4 degrees C
Trial two temp.: 25.04 degrees C
Trial three temp.: 26.72 degrees C
Question:
Are there any noticeable patterns or trends within the
results of the lab activity?
